RE: ARRRGH

Okay here's my story.

When it released, I made a list of places I could call and I would so so regularly. This all started at the end of November or so. I have like 20 or more different locations I'd call and they'd tell me if they're not sure, if they'd have some coming on Thursday/Friday, etc.

This continued for quite some time, right through till December and January.

Then, I call in December a Zellers location and ask to be put down on a waiting list. They said there were a LOT of people so I didn't expect to get it anytime soon so I still kept calling other places.

End of December/beginning of January, I ended up trying Rogers Video for a change. I kept calling and they'd only get a few shipments on occasion.

I call one day and they tell me they have like one or two left!!! :o

I ask if they can hold it, the girl says no, she can't since her shift ends soon.
I tell my father, he gets kinda upset and he ends up calling back, speaking calmly telling her how long I've been searching and he appeals to her. She ends up agreeing and my dad takes the bus to a Rogers Video 20 minutes away from my house (yeah, not the one 5 minutes away).

You won't believe what happened next, though.

5 minutes later, guess who called...
THE ZELLERS MANAGER/ASSOCIATE!! They tell me they just got in a couple Wii's and they said they know how long I've been searching and asked me FIRST if I wanted to get one!!!! :o

HOW AMAZING!! Unfortunately, I had to tell them that not even 5 minutes before, my father left to pick up a Wii he found!

It was amazing and I was so shocked and I still am till this day at times.

That marks the day I got my Wii: January 13th.

max, try putting yourself on a waiting list for a place like Microplay or EB Games or something.
It may seem long but it acts as an insurance and you can keep looking for Wii's elsewhere while you're waiting.

I looked all over the place and called many places, and multiple locations of the same store too: Future Shop, Best Buy, Toys R Us, Zellers, Rogers Video, Video Games Plus, The Source and a few more.

It was a real hunt but well worth it. :o

Hmmm, are some of those shops Canada exclusive? I don't know Future Shop, Rogers Video, Video Games +, The Source and a few more. Zellers. I only know Best Buy and Toys R Us.

RE: ARRRGH

Yep, probably. Most are found in Canada only.

But I forgot to add Wal-Mart to the list as well. They weren't too helpful though...

RE: ARRRGH

As have I. But persistence is key.
Calling helps as does knowing when they ship it. Some are predicatable (e.g., Best Buy, Future Shop) whereas others aren't (ToysRUs).

As I said, signing yourself on a Waiting List is a good "insurance" even if it IS a long wait.

Don't give up! It really is a "hunt" but it's worth the effort as my story can testify to.

RE: ARRRGH

It's just as difficult here.
In fact, I thought it would be notably easier to find on in the US.

But it may be worth a shot. If you do cross over, let me know as I can be of assistance.

Whatever you do, though, do not resort to Ebay..

RE: ARRRGH

hey eBay is pretty legit. you can get really good stuff there. Vintage nintendo items, cheap stuff for 99 cents

ON TOPIC: you dont want to try ebay untill a last resort. try online stores like bestbuy and.................(cant think of american stores). and go on some sites they even tell you stock (like the source).

RE: ARRRGH

That's what I'm saying. Ebay's prices are ridiculously high for Wii's and it's not worth it. I'm not saying Ebay isn't credible. I'm talking about pricing wise, it's just not worth it.

RE: ARRRGH

I got my wii from Best Buy. There was a special sale for all reward zone members, and luckily, my dad and my sister were both reward zone members. The sale said each best buy had at least 30 wiis for the sale, and we got there about an hour early and were like the 20th people in line. We stood outside for a long time, and the line grew to like 300 people. That's how I got my Wii. I hope you are as fortunate :)
