Whats With The Pricing!?!?!

I've just been looking at the list of games for each region, and upon looking, i discovered something, japan are getting sega mega drive games for 200 points less than what we have to pay, now i think that is completely unfair.

I mean, besides the fact they get alot of games that we will never get, and get games and these games before we do, which tottally sucks. They are getting there mega-drive games a whole 200 points cheaper, now thats the worst kind of thing. I normally wouldn't care, but why do they get it cheaper? I mean, everything else is charged exactly the same, yet they get all mega-drive games cheaper? It costs enough to buy points without knowing we are getting ripped off even more.

I'm not one to normally rant like this, but even i think this is somewhat unfair and biased, even if the games were originally cheaper out there, than they were here, it is still B***S***, and it shouldn't affect the pricing of the newly updated games.

Discuss if you wish.

Also, this may be more suitable for the debate section, so if you think so please move it. Thanks in advance.

RE: Whats With The Pricing!?!?!

Yeah, it is Wii Debates material.

But yeah, I'm a bit ticked as well, but it's nice that we get SOME sort of... how shall we say.. reimbursement as we're getting I think it's commodore 64 titles for like 400 or something like that... Or maybe it was Game Gear...

Either way, it is unfair and it's a case of inequity in terms of the pricing and it is likely to turn some people off but maybe Big N thinks "casual" gamers won't take the opportunity to take a look at other regions and the pricings offered there. xD

RE: Whats With The Pricing!?!?!

Well, i hadn't noticed myself until we were discussing the request for the virtual console games, i decided to look around and check out which regions had what games, and noticed the pricing was different.

I think your wrong, gamegear titles, will probably be 400, like you said, but the commodore titles are the same as japanese pricing as far as i know [i think they called it pc engine instead of commodore, i looked at the games, they were the same]

Gamegear titles no doubt will be the same for us and them, i mean, thye even have the master system games already out over there, they also have that out in america, so we should get it soon. But still it's bad enough that europe misses out by being last to get everything normally, but to make it worse we even get a 200 point price difference, with this price difference it's the difference between one more game which is alot really.

America have to put up with 200 more points to spend too, which is annoying, but even so we shouldn't put up with this, but even if we do put up a fuss, at most nintendo would probably only put the points up 200 more in japan, or not even bother noting what we've said.

It would be nice to recieve some more updates for the Europe/American virutal console, or at least get some sort of nice update.

RE: Whats With The Pricing!?!?!

Yeah. I feel like we're getting ripped-off a bit in terms of things being a tad overpriced.

But I'm Canadian, by the way, so yeah the SMS debuted here already but I'm not too ecstatic about it. We only got Wodner Boy but it will lead to other more notable releases but tbh, I probably won't by anything from the SMS unless I hear really good things since I don't have points to waste.

But yeah, US is getting a 200-point difference on one of the systems, which I think is C64 and yeah, we're getting Game Gear at a measly 400 which is great to hear but there are only a select few I'd even consider purchasing and even then, I'd be a bit skeptical.

I'm not too too upset about the price inequities but if it affects a system I'd want (say if the Dreamcast were to appear! :o) then I'd be ranting like crazy. Heh.

I'm mostly concerned about WiiWare and the price offerings there.

RE: Whats With The Pricing!?!?!

Well, i would actually be more annoyed now, that the mega drive price differences, since i spent most of my childhood playing mega-drive games, i know i love so many of the mega-drive games hence why i'm very annoyed. And the Commodore is only out in europe at the moment, so we won't know for sure what the prices are for a while, however, at least europe got something first.

Here is a pricing information for each place:

Nintendo Entertainment System/Famicon::

500 Points - America [3 for 600]
500 Points - Europe [3 for 600, TMNT was originally 500, but got upped to 600]
500 Points - Australia/New Zealand [3 for 600]
500 Points - Japan [5 for 600]

Super Nintendo/Super Famicon::

800 Points - America [1 for 900]
800 Points - Europe [2 for 900]
800 Points - Australia/New Zealand [2 for 900]
800 Points - Japan [4 for 900, 1 for 1,000]

Nintendo 64::

1,000 Points - America [1,200 for Sin & Punishment, Zelda is 1,000]
1,000 Points - Europe [1,200 for Sin & Punishment, Zelda is 1,000]
1,000 Points - Australia/New Zealand [1,200 for Sin & Punishment, Zelda is 1,000]
1,000 Points - Japan [1,200 for Legend of zelda, Sin & punishment 1,000]

Sega Master System::

400 Points - America [Only released title is 500 however]
N/A Points - Europe
N/a Points - Australia/New Zealand
500 Points - Japan [2 titles, one is priced 600]

Sega Genesis/Mega Drive::

800 Points - America [2 for 900]
800 Points - Europe
800 Points - Australia/New Zealand
600 Points - Japan [Quite a few are 700]

TurboGrafx/Pc Engine[Japan Name]

600 Points - America [Some 800]
600 Points - Europe [Some 800]
600 Points - Australia/New Zealand [Some 800]
600 Points - Japan [Some 800]

Neo Geo

900 Points - America
900 Points - Europe
900 Points - Australia/New Zealand
900 Points - Japan

Commodore 64

N/A Points - America
500 Points - Europe
N/A Points - Australia/New Zealand
N/A Points - Japan

Thats the price guide as it stands.

But it's still somewhat annoying of the price differences over here and japan, for the mega-drive, i think i'd prefer to have the price difference of 100 points [600-700] rather than pay 800 for each, although knowing the price differences, it'll probably mean when they come out over here they will be 900 instead.

It's annoying but i guess we'll have to deal with it.

RE: Whats With The Pricing!?!?!

Nice price guide. Thanks for that. Hopefully, it'll serve as a reference point for now and yeah, I'm curious to see when the next SMS Title releases because they DID say we'd get them for 400, but Wonder Boy costed us 500.

RE: Whats With The Pricing!?!?!

I know, makes you wonder if they will change it, although if you do end up getting it cheaper, than japan, then you can't really complain, so far though europe can only complain since we losing out on all fronts, nothing is cheaper for us, although we do have commodore first, we still miss out on price really. They probably have mega drive games cheaper in japan because they were far more popular out here no doubt.

RE: Whats With The Pricing!?!?!

That's for sure. I mean, many didn't know GG Titles existed for Sonic until Mega Collection/Adventure DX's Collection/Sonic Gems came along since they never were popular or had never appeared in US before then.

RE: Whats With The Pricing!?!?!

Oh i for sure knew of them, i had quite a few of them, and quite alot of them were good, but then again even then we lost out to japan, who got bare knuckle 1-3 [streets of rage] which we never got because it's suposedly too violent.
