The Futures Now, The Futures Sonic?
Well, sorry if the title is rather bland...
But, do you think the same?
In the gaming future, i believe sonic will dominate, i believe mario will start to be forgotten soon, as sonic looks likes hes comming back in form. Maybe even better than before.

RE: The Futures Now, The Futures Sonic?
I'm gonna assume you forgot two apostrophes in the title there.
On topic, lol, no way. Mario being forgotten? That's extremely unlikely.

RE: The Futures Now, The Futures Sonic?
Nope, i left them out because i did.
Some things don't need to be apostrophised. Thats right, i made up a word. Oh sorry "That's right".
And it is likely, if you think about it actually.
Mario has become dull lately, at least thats my opinion.
Where'as sonic, has been treading new water and has been doing a great job of it, if sonic can now release a worthwhile title for his normal adventure, then he'd be on top.

RE: The Futures Now, The Futures Sonic?
The left out apostrophes in the title change the meaning of the sentence though, into something completely senseless. <.<
Mario has become dull? Maybe in your opinion, but definately not in the one of the masses. Mario Kart Wii is selling like hotcakes from what I can gather, Mario Party 8 is one of the highest selling Wii titles (don't ask me why), Mario Sluggers (Baseball) is in development and Mario Strikers also seems to be quite popular. Super Paper Mario, while not as good as the previous titles from the series, was recieved pretty well, not to mention Mario Galaxy being named as Game of the Year 2007 by some.
Now look at Sonic: (Mind you, this is the general opinion of the masses!) Sega released nothing but crap for a while after Sonic Adventure 2, recently only Sonic Secret Rings and the DS titles were mildly successful. All the spin-offs fared quite badly. I admit that both Unleashed and Chronicles (I think, the Bioware RPG) sound quite good, but we can't say anything about that till it's out.
I honestly can't see how Mario is supposed to be able to be forgotten, like, ever, as long as Nintendo still exists.
Oh, and XD mew22. So true, so true. Sadly.

Halo cannot continue much longer, due to bungie not wishing to work with halo anymore.
The left out apostrophes in the title change the meaning of the sentence though, into something completely senseless. <.<
There isn't a meaning to my title, i'm just taking a random quote for elsewhere, this is how i choose to spell it. It doesn't make it the correct or wrong way.
I am talking about the fact he is expanding into many game area's in which he is becomming boring due to over-use in the sports area obviously people are thinking too close to the box.
Thats a bad "so called" masses opinion considering the fact. The masses opinion of most sonic spin-offs are great.
Putting aside sonic shuffle, which was recieved badly due to mario party franchise.
There are various other games which were interesting and worked well.
Sonic Battle, Sonic Riders + Sequel, Sega Superstars Tennis, brawl [technically]
Ironically sonic battle was very well recieved.
Sonic riders + Sequel, many gave it bad reviews, yet there is a massive cult finding for the game, and many people really enjoy the game despite all the negative reviews.
Sega superstars has been well recieved many say, it's alot better than mario tennis.
Brawl, i doubt i need to comment.
Sonic RPG [Chronicles: Dark Brotherhood] Developed by bioware and looks to be amazing. With new unique elements.
So spin off wise hes been doing very well lately actually, and Sonic Battle was a GBA.
I honestly can't see how Mario is supposed to be able to be forgotten, like, ever, as long as Nintendo still exists.
Quite easily, Nintendo are focussing too much time and effort into games that aren't made for "mario's genre". And most of the time the spin off's are okay with mario, but hes in almost every damn sport you can mention. He seems to be forgotten for the old platformer he use to be. If he branched out into new area's instead of going to new sports i wouldn't say this.
"Mario has become dull lately, at least thats my opinion."
Thats your opinion. Mario is getting more creative(Super Mario Galaxy)
Yes it's opinion, much like it's your opinion that mario is exciting. I never said it wasn't. This is a debate section afterall, where people debate and share.
Super Mario Galaxy is over-rated, yes the game is very creative. But, may i remind you of Sonic Rush, it was very innovative for the first game, it tottally changed the way sonic played 2D Sidescrollers.
Secret rings had an amazingly innovative control style, very creative if you ask me.
Mario had a somewhat creative gameplay.. you could say, but it's nothing too exciting, sure sure i'm a fan of sonic, but this is me i didn't think too much of galaxy, i still think Super Mario 64 is the best, and sunshine was a disaster, but it's not like i don't deny the fact sonic's games have sucked lately, from sonic heroes [kinda hated heroes] the games have gone downhill, and unleashed finally looks like the first promising one.
All i'm saying, is in my opinion, mario's gameplay is starting to feel old, and if they release a new mario game, i'd like them to work on a propper platformer, or a new genre for mario that isn't related for sport, something new and exciting. Re-invent the series you could say.
Sonic has been boring lately in terms of big adventure platformers, cos they've sucked, or been rushed etc.. So i'm looking forward to the next sonic game cos it looked amazing for a change.
I wasn't too excited about galaxy or sunshine, and i was right not to be cos it's not as great as people give it credit too.

RE: The Futures Now, The Futures Sonic?
Brawl is more of a Mario than a Sonic game, really. Although I wouldn't consider it to be either.
Let's check the general opinion on Sonic and Mario games using Metacritic, a site that adds all official review scores together and calculates the average score, shall we? Picking the latest release from each genre.
Sonic:
Tennis - Sega Superstars Tennis (Wii) - 72
Racing - Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity (Wii) - 56
Fighting - Sonic Battle (GBA) - 69
Platformer - Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) (Xbox 360) - 46 / Sonic and the Secret Rings (Wii) - 69 (depending on if you count SatSR as a platformer or not)
Mario:
Tennis - Mario Power Tennis (GCN) - 80
Racing - Mario Kart Wii (Wii) - 84
Fighting - Nothing available, closest is Brawl with a score of 95.
Platformer - Super Mario Galaxy (Wii) - 97
Notice something? Mario games are far better revieved than Sonic ones. Thus your "The masses opinion of most sonic spin-offs are great." point is invalid. As is your Sonic Battle point, as 69 is definately not "very well recieved".
Now, I admit that Unleashed and Chronicles look promising, but we can't say that till they're out!
Then, what "new areas" should Mario go explore in your opinion? Can't think of anything except new sports or FPS, and you gotta admit the latter is quite impossible to happen.
EDIT: ...oh, whoops, totally forgot Rush in that comparasion up there. Still, it's quite unlikely to reach SMG anyway, so eh. Gotta go now, be back later.

RE: The Futures Now, The Futures Sonic?
I wouldn't mind seeing marip in a more of a puzzled type platformer like banjo kazooie.
I reviews mean nothing! Any idiot knows that half the scores for sonic games are automatically biased lower.
Take IGN, gamespot, almost all games for sonic games are really low compared to all user opinions and the official nintendo magizine etc...
And for sonic battle i've seena review saying it was in the 80's percentage.
Which is why you can't really use those, i'm going on the fanbase's and the average opinion, offciail reviewers are too biased against sonic nowadays. For instance, what score did sunshine get? I bet it was in the 90's yet the game was such a let down.

RE: The Futures Now, The Futures Sonic?
Mario won't be "forgotten" but his luster is starting to wear off a bit. It needs a bigger jump but I think Galaxy bridged the gap it was starting to fall in, if you get what I mean. Now, they just need to work on that.
As for Sonic, it's hard to say. I think he might but Mario probably will still dominate just because of his fanbase whereas people are skeptical to give Sonic the chance he deserves.
Oh, and Sonic games have rocked since SA. It has to be said.
