mario is nver going to be forgotten. they will think of new ideas that will go far beyond galaxy like. 'Real World' xD.

Sonic however is in my eyes not developing as much as mario did. for ages he had the same concept but marios changed

"Had the same concept" - so has Mario. I mean, how many times do we have to hear that the Princess is getting kidnapped in some way, shape or form, and we always have to hear her yell: Marrrrrrrrioooooooo!! xD

At least Sonic is more differentiated in terms of the storylines.

In my opinion, all the bad reviews for Sonic DO mean something. Metascores are based not upon fan reviews scoring, but actual critics rating the game unbiasedly (word?).

As It is now, Sonic is having one last hurrah in Unleashed. Granted, if that goes well, it may not be the end of Sonic.

I honestly can never see Sonic surpassing Mario anytime soon. Or ever.

Some people tend to stamp a biased symbol on anything they don't agree with (I'm not saying that's anyone here, but biased is more like: "I only play Mario and hate sonic for no reason so heres my review:")

As for the Sonic issue, I think they're going to relize it's time to give up soon; Unlike mario, most of the ideas are old or already done ( Werewolf sonic? Unleashed should be more aptly named Legend of Sonic, Twilight Hedgehog >> )

Now thats what i hate the most. Everytime someone has an idea, if it's remotely similar to what has happened in another game half the games get shot down even if they are good.

For instance, Starfox Adventures made by rare. It was shot down, because it was susposedly "legend of zelda like" in a bad way they stated.

THis is the problem, people compare games way too often. Plus unleahsed has been in development for at most 3 years, which is before twilight princess's release [not sure about whether it will be before the game announce link as a wolf]

So it is possible it was an original idea, buyt seems similar.
Plus, in my opinion this is more like sega, expanding the gameplay elements more than anything, with a somewhat cool way to do it.

Secret rings = special ring, with extra powers.
Sonic rush adventure = boat travelling.

And you are wrong, i'm not biased, sure i'm a sonic fan, but i know when i admit whether a game is good or bad.

As i've said many times, sonic 06 would be a decent and amazing game, if they weren't so pressured to get it right, and rush. Plus developing for two system at the same time caused problems. Sega stated they rushed the game, plus if you look the in manual it states things that are in the game, that aren't in the game, because the books are pre-printed. So, the pressure for launch date got the better of sega, and they ruined there chance to make sonic into a decent name again for home console series. Your forgetting, the launch of any console, means whoever promises games, or if they want a good launch they expect decent games, sonic's a big name, so they got pressured alot.

However unleashed isn't being rushed. Which is great. Although it doesn't mean it'll be good.

And half the online reviews are biased as **** towards sonic. How many sonic games have i seen that are extremely poorly rated, despite the fact i know "Official nintendo magizine" etc.. rate them higher, and more fairly in my opinion. Because they are not haters of sonic, but they don't love him either.

Many people think it's unbiased etc. but everything is biased in someway. Think about it, nintendo games are normally rated highly by nintedo's magizine..yet they are unbiased, most of the big nintedo games [mario galaxy, mario kart wii, zelda] were rated extremely highly even though there was quite alot of improving that could of been done.

Same. I admit that Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity could've had more lasting appeal if only it chose to make the leap to ONLINE PLAY rather than simply Ghost Data.. I admit that SatSR had a fabulous concept and was stellar in execution but had a bad story and the mini-games were definitely not Shuffle-calibre. I admit that recent Sonic titles are a TAD too flooded with characters but I don't mind.

I can go on, really. The point is: I'm not biased when it comes to Sonic games. I call's em like I see's em.

Sonic 06 wasn't that bad at all. In fact, I really enjoyed it. There werent as many "glitches" as was claimed and it could have been, as was stated, an amazing game but it fell short in the end for a couple reasons that I won't get into since EF can probably explain it better anyway and he has.

You ALL have to admit, Sonic games are being rated horribly. I've been watching reviews of Sonic games and how the quality of the reviews has greatly deteriorated over time. You should've seen 1up's review of SRZG. HORRIBLE!

I admit, they have been rated poirly - but for good reason. I've played almost all the recent Sonic Games except SatsR, and I would not rate them above a 6, except for the one for the DS.

And to evilflame: you can always make excuses like: If it weren't rushed it would have been better; but you don't know that.. as you said, Unleashed may not be good just 'cause it was in development for a long time (an example would be Brawl: a little dissapointing, to say the least), so you can't say Sonic 06 would be better if it weren't rushed.

Anyway, I think that if SU is a flop/dissapointment, it may be the beginning of the end for our spiky blue pal.

EF, Mario has just recently made 3 great games, MKW, Galaxy, and SSBB, which all got higher than 90's. Sonic's recent past has been a pretty bad one, like some people pointed out, because SEGA is trying to copy Nintendo in some ways, which is downgrading Sonic's rep in many ways.

Ks8, if you think THAT's bad, you should see GT's review of it. 4.9... ouchy.

I stil don't see how you can say a company is copying another without solid facts.
And it's not an excuse, if you look around you can find sega saying that themself, the game was rushed, due to release of the xbox360 plus they said it was there first time developing for two different systems at the same time.

And i know it wasn't finished and was rushed for the fact as i said before, some elements of gameplay aren't in the game, which is clearly stated to be in it, in the manual.

Plus in my opinion it is a great game. Not because, i know or don't know. But from what i've played, and i've completed the game, of sonic06 i could see the game would of been significantly better without being rushed, it probably would have at least been 10 times more fun if they had fixed the loading problems, but they didn't because they rushed the game out due to pressure.

Technically, thats only one mario game.

Mario Kart Wii, could be considered a mario game, but it's not really a mairo game.
Super smash bros, isn't mario, it includes all nintendo cast once again not focused on mario.
Mario galaxy good game, focused on mario well and adapted to new gameplay elements.
