I was playing some and it was hard to believe that they actually had fun with those. I'm so thankful to Nintendo. Pit looks NOTHING like he did. But really, how did ppl have fun like that back then?

RE: masterpeices
I'm really glad they added masterpieces and I tried Kid Icarus. It's okay but I wouldn't buy it. I just unlocked F-Zero (SNES) and I certainly wouldn't spend 800 on it but it is good, speaking from my amazement with the N64 version.
And I already have Kirby's Adventure and Starfox 64. Both worth it.
I want to try Ice Climber next.

RE: masterpeices
I'm kinda mad that they are so short though, like 30 seconds is practically nothing. Its still a neat little feature though.

RE: masterpeices
Agreed, 30 seconds is nothing. And 40 seconds isn't enough on a game like F-Zero. XD

RE: masterpeices
@ KS8: Ice Climber's jumping sucks. They jump vertically with little air control.
I think the Masterpieces are short. OoT & SF64 were the only good TTs. I own 75% of those games though on VC!

RE: masterpeices
you need to remember these games were revolutionary back in the day, and aren't programmed to the advanced level that games are today... when jumps we programmed, they were designed as a constant up motion in the very beginning, and then designed with a bit of momentum, but they weren't designed with the idea of being able to choose a precise location to land on allowing the user a vast amount of air control.
These days, the play has that many options, and control methods are so vast over what they used to be, i mean we used to get on fine with a D pad and two or three buttons on old arcade games or handhelds. Now we have analogue sticks (two :O), a dpad, and all sorts of buttons (all the way up to 8 or more :O), but it's the way gaming has progressed.
I'm only 19, but i'm fully aware of the changes in design and programming, and the advancements made due to technology upgrades and chages, but what surprised me was wii... it came with less quirky controls. Don't get me wrong, i loved the GC controller and Dualshock, but the N64 controller was too much... three prongs you couldn't use all three at once, but the simplicity of the wii remote just reminds me of the old snes days, when you didn't have to worry about holding one button while pressing the next, and moving a cursor at the same time just to shoot one person, but i still love console gaming nevertheless, even though for some it's not the most user friendly of activities...
BUT returning to topic,
even though brawl isn't out over here, i'd love the play all the masterpieces, as short as they may be, just to see old games in their former glory
