Is WiiConnect24 next-to-useless?
I certainly disagree but this article has something to say on that:
http://multiplayerblog.mtv.com/2008/04/0...ou-lately/
I can argue my take on this easily and their arguments, while mostly valid and founded, it comes up a bit dry in terms of convincing me that WC24 isn't a good/an enhancing feature.

RE: Is WiiConnect24 next-to-useless?
Personally, I've turned the Connect on Standby off as I don't see the point of it. I get my messages and whatelse anyway once I turn on the console, and did you ever notice how hot the Wii gets when it's off and the connection is on?
The only annoying thing is that now the News and Weather Channels don't work, but I never use them anyway. <.< (Interestingly the second I turn the standby connect on again the channels work even without turning off the Wii or something, go figure.)
Besides the "auto-download updates" is a lie, all it does is inform you that there is an update availible, nothing else. <.<

RE: Is WiiConnect24 next-to-useless?
That's everyone's problem. Their looking at it to critically and with a closed-mind, they don't look at it for what it is.
You think they ever mention Elebits stage exchanges? No. <_<

RE: Is WiiConnect24 next-to-useless?
WiiConnect24 is awsome.
What other system doubles as a bun heater. Its great for BBQ's, just lay the buns on it the system and in no time your buns will be warm enough for a hamburger. Just make sure you don't turn the system on, it can't multitask so the bun heaters turn off.
[/sarcasm]
It's pretty useless.

RE: Is WiiConnect24 next-to-useless?
Lol. That made me smirk.
As I said, WC24 isn't "useless" in my books. Games like Dewy's Adventure, Brawl, Elebits, the upcoming Blast Works and Boom Blox, they all use WiiConnect24 extensively and as such, the feaetures that are implemented as a result prove the usefulness of WC24. And sure the blue light to indicate a new message may be "annoying" at times but I like having it remind me I got like 8 new messages waiting for me. :o
I'm mostly pleased with WC24 but the whole light flashing thing sparked my interest once someone showed me first how to use it and make the light get very bright.
WC24 = no masterpiece by any means, but not garbage.

RE: Is WiiConnect24 next-to-useless?
I never said you couldn't. xD
The idea, tbh, wasn't too debate about the STANDBY feature, because then that would just be questioning if the blue light is a useless feature. Heh.

i like it. the reason it doesnt download the updates for u is because there are different agreements. if they dont ask u...you could sue nintendo.

Actually, you couldn't because in a previous update, you agreed that Nintendo could update your wii at anytime, without asking.

RE: Is WiiConnect24 next-to-useless?
To be fairly honest, i agree with the article.
Alot of the so called featured that they have said WiiConnect24 would have, well to be honest they haven't really delivered in my opinion.
Besides the fact i hardly ever recieve updates or any new information, it's kind'of a shame. Sure i don't expect loads of updates, but i did expect more out of WiiConnect24.
For instance, alot of the services on the console currently is lacking, and most of them hardly use the WiiCOnnect24 service at the moment, really they need to focus on lauching more services and possibly providing more content to other countries.
Europe, US & Japan, we shouldn't have to wait in order in which area and wait for us to recieve these new updates.
It should make it so each place recieves different updates, and make it so each area can test certain features first to ensure fairness between the countries, and not to just let japan test all these features straight off the mark, they get WiiWare first, and they also get these other features first. It would be nice to get a bit more appreciation.
