RE: Dreamcast Support Thread
i dont know...is dreamcast a nintendo system? if not then they wont go for it. i mean why would they spend alot of time enhancing a old system that isnt even theirs. even though they put sega thinger and turbo grafx, those were systems with small games. i dont think Big N will go for it.

RE: Dreamcast Support Thread
SEGA Genesis isn't a Nintendo System. <_<
But yes, they may be a little skeptic due to the sizes. I'd say they should add cult classics, though, like Jet Grind Radio, Sonic Adventure 2, and others.

RE: Dreamcast Support Thread
Another reason why they should DEFINITELY add it: as many owners of a DC know, disks get scratched easily. Some of my disks can't be played anymore, like TrickStyle and my sib's 101 Dalmatians.
If they add it, NO MORE SCRATCHES!!!

RE: Dreamcast Support Thread
Oh yes, evil flame gets to share his view =D.
For all of you that didn't know, dreamcast was sega's last working console before they decided to call it a day.
Now alot of people don't actually know there was an amazing amount of great games on the dreamcast and is actually still getting games released for it in various places [new ones]
Plus it is selling extremely strongly even after it's death, i failed to sell well original, but after it died the hype for it picked up and people recongized how amazing the console really was.
Hence why many people still hungar for the dreamcast.
Right, i only know of a few, but the dreamcast had many great games::
We have obviously::
Sonic Adventure
Sonic Adventure 2
Trickstyle
Skies Of Arcadia
Shenmue
Shenmue 2
Crazy Taxi
Jet Set Radio
Hidden & Dangerous
Sword Of The Berserk: Guts Rage
Dynamite Cop
ChuChu Rocket
Street Fighter III 3rd Strike
Marvel Vs Capcom: Clash Of Super Heroes
Dead Or Alive 2
Legacy Of Kain: Soul Reaver
Soul Calibur
The House Of The Dead 2
Project Justic Rival Schools
Power Stone
Mortal Kombat Gold
All of these games above are awesome.
The average size of each dreamcast game would most likely be around 800mb-1.2GB.
I know this because the dreamcast used GD-Roms which maximum size was 1.2GB.
Meaning that even games like shenmue, shenmue 2 which used four disks [shenmue 2 used on dvd disk on the xbox] will only take a maximum of 4.8 GB.
So, basically, i'm saying an SD card of 4 GB, could hold the whole of shenmue , or the whole of shenmue 2, as we don't know the games actualy size, we only know the maximum size it could of used, it is likely that each disk is only around 1 GB as, they cannot use the disk up to it's full potential as bugs and errors can occur, plus they don't know how much a game will take up until after fully finished, and because of this, the game memory for each disk will vary.
Plus if the dreamcast did come about on the Virtual console if it released shenmue it is more than likely that they could compress the game so even if it did surpass 4 GB it would fit on one SD card, and if they couldn't compress it enough, then i would assume they would either release it in parts, or as an alternative, bring out a bigger memory device.
If the dreamcast did come to the Virtual Console, then it is certain that almost all games could fit on your current Wii memory, and if not, then most would easily fit on a 4GB SD card, having up to at least 4 games, since most dreamcast games were most likely 800mb.
It is unliekly that the dreamcast will appear anytime soon, but it is more likely it will appear what with it being sega's last console and the huge amount of success of key games, like jet set radio, sonic adventure, shenmue and various other games.
In my opinion it should come to the VC, even if they have to include some sort of external memory, which isn't really completely needed since the dreamcast games aren't as big as people think.

RE: Dreamcast Support Thread
Well, it's a shame it's unliekly to happen, even for a long time even if it does. I mean the master system has only just appeared, where'as we still have the sega saturn, and the gamegear.
So if it does appear it'll be a while yet, but, i wouldn't mind getting a petition done and sent to nintendo, wanna help?

Definitely! :o
That's a great idea.
In fact, I'm surprised SEGA Saturn even has a chance of appearing, tbh.

RE: Dreamcast Support Thread
Well, it has a few decent games, no likely sega will try and milk people, besides if anything appears, sega CD might, since Sonic Cd was a pretty awesome game. BUt then again it's unlikely.
And if you make one of those free online petitions, or show me where to make one, we'll gather signatures and help us to get it signed right?

RE: Dreamcast Support Thread
This won't be added. Sega is starting TO PRODUCE MORE DC's in Japan. Nintendo wouldn't add an ACTIVE CONSOLE to the VC.
