RE: Does the Wii need an Achievements system?

I think the achievement system is really great. It gives a lot more replay value, and more purpose to a game. A lot of people when trying to decide what system they should buy the game for, they often choose the 360 version just because of the achievement system.
With their achievement points they can show it off to their friends, showing a '1337' they are.

With Nintendo's current online system, achievements wouldn't fit in too well because they screwed up the friend system, which in turn affects anything dealing with friends, including achievements.

No, it doesn't need one, the achievement system is a fun idea, but unless it provided something more than, Invisable game points then it doesn't seem worth it unless these game points can be traded for varioust hings.

the friend system is nothing that couldn't sort out with a system update, to make a better version off it..

but they should of made it better to begin with imo

I agree with this. I mean, if we got Wii Points for the achievments in games, then it's worth having but just getting a "gamerscore" is just pointless.
Also, having an achievments system just makes people buy games just for the achievments.

Heh.
RB, that would be AMAZING if we got Wii Points for it! That's a great idea, but as mew said, Nintendo will never do it, especially since they're still working their hands/minds around Wi-Fi. xD

An overall "gamerscore" isn't pointless to me. It's worthy on its own merit as many will agree.

Wii Watchlist: Sonic Unleashed, Blast Works, Wii Fit, ACWii, SSX Blur 2, Elebits 2
Wii Wishlist: SatSR, Galaxy, Brawl, Elebits, Zack/Wiki, NiGHTS, MSOG

RE: Does the Wii need an Achievements system?

Give me a break, I was on PSP and just looked at RB's post. xD

Anyway, that is a good idea, EF, srsly but as Sous brought out the friend system is a tad screwy so it's not particularly ideal atm.

RE: Does the Wii need an Achievements system?

The way it works as it is at the moment is better.

The only thing i'd like to see changed is to see which fo your friends is online playing what, toher than that it's fine.

Additionally, they could give you stars you could then convert to points which will serve a better purpose as nintendo isn't just giving away points.
