On the minds of many atm. Nintendojo had a feature that covered this. What do you think? I got quite a bit to say on the subject.

Well, I think with all the bad Sonic titles that have been made recently, Sega need to make a good one just to let people know they haven't completely lost their touch.
I think that, really, this is their last chance. À mon avis, If this fails, Sega are finished.

Heh: "Sega are finished". xD
Anyway, I somewhat disagree. It's getting annoying now.
People keep saying a Sonic game is SEGA's "last chance". People thought Sonic 06 was Sonic's last chance and he blew it. People thought SatSR was the final straw, and it came out good. I think people need ot make up their minds, tbh.
I don't see it as their "last chance". They haven't lost touch with their fanbase at all, imo, and I appreciate them for what they've done and continue to do. But boy, SA3 = sick!

Nah, there's never a "last chance" in something you can produce infinite different-yet-simliar stuff.

RE: Do you see Sonic Unleashed as SEGA's "last chance"?
If sega are still around, and sonic is sega's mascot, and sega still have money why would it be there last chance?
I mean, even with the recent set of failures, he still sells strongly on GBA and DS. So, even if it takes a little while longer to get the right formula, they will keep going strong.
Besides the fact secret rings, sold well and is a good game in it's own respect why would they stop?
Sonic/Sega don't have a last or final chance because Sonic sells whether or not his games are decent, purely because of the strong fanbase.
So why give up, when they can keep perfecting the formula.
Plus by the sound of it, this game was really in the works before Sonic Next Gen/06, as the engine used was being tested and created since the release of Sonic Rush [2005]
So to me, it looked like sega japan, were giving sonic over to america so they could create a new engine which was perfect for sonic =].
At least thats my opinion.
And as this is the closest, and will be sonic adventure 3 i can't wait, whether or not the name will be sonic adventure 3 though, only time will tell i guess.

I don't think it's SEGA's last chance either. Sure, if the game bombs, ppl will dislike Sonic even more, but that does'n't mean SEGA itself is done, they have plenty more games out.

RE: Do you see Sonic Unleashed as SEGA's "last chance"?
I still stick by my opinion that Sega are gonna go down if this game sucks. It may not be their last chance though, as I just remembered Sonic Chronicles comes out soon and that is shaping up to be a good game. Plus, Unleashed looks awesome anyway.
I just think that with all the hype building up around Unleashed, if it does turn out to be terrible, people are gonna be really disappointed.
Sonic will always have a big fan base though so even if the games stop appealing to everyone, there will always be Sonic fans left to buy the games.
Failing that, they can always do a Nintendo and we can end up with Sonic Kart and Sonic Party xD

Dont diss Sonic Shuffle!!! :o
Anyway, too much hype is generated by the fans themselves so its their own fault for having such high expectations (not just for Unleashed). <_<

RE: Do you see Sonic Unleashed as SEGA's "last chance"?
Uh. No.
Sega doesn't live off Sonic. Haven't you guys ever seen them make any thing else? I do. They have so many other series and games that they shouldn't worry. The question that would be better to consider is "Is this Sonic's last chance?" Sega is nowhere near being "finished." And for that matter, Sonic isn't close to being finished. He needs a long string of failures, I mean long and the most recent Sonic games have been quite successful in terms of income, maybe not fan appreciation, but enough people buy Sonic games to keep the blue blur going.
Randomboy, you need to look at Sega's big picture. Sega isn't supported by Sonic alone. If he really plummets, he'll plummet alone, not with the company.

RE: Do you see Sonic Unleashed as SEGA's "last chance"?
Indeed. Series as JSR will NEVER allow the company to die in any sense.
But guys. Dont get ahead of yourselves. Whats being questioned is if this is their last chance for the Sonic SERIES not the company itself. Just thought I'd clear that up.
