RE: Do you see Sonic Unleashed as SEGA's "last chance"?

Put it this way. Alex the kidd, was sega's mascot, and was very popular with his alex the kidd games. Although i've yet to play any [downloading on VC when got the points] But basically, Alex the kidd was very popular and was a platformer much like sonic. But unlike sonic he wasn't fast or a hedgehog, as you guessed he was a kid human, but he could do almost anything, like magical adventures and such.
I heard alot of good things. However, when sonic the hedgehog was released. Sonic became so popular sega got rid of alex the kidd, and susposedly also binned and in production game for alex the kidd in favour of sonic due to his extradanory success after only one game, boosting sega and sonic's popularity they finished the second game within a year or two. [can't quite remember the date of Sonic 2, but i think it was 1992 which was a year after]

Anywho, because of this Alex the kidd has been dead for almost you could say 17 years the exact rain of which sonic has lived for. [It may be 19 years, cos i think alex the kidds last game was 1989] But basically, because of this hes been dead, the only recent appearance, as some of you know is in Sega Superstars Tennis, which leads to suspicion, there is hope for a new alex the kidd adventure after almost 20 years of being dead.

But no one knows him cos of that, i believe a few of his games are on the VC though.
And if i get one i'll let ya know if it's good.

And well, sonic could easily die. Put it this way, if something more popular than sonic comes into sega's hands [although unlikely now sonic is well established, and he is gaining a bit more popularity back with recent more decent sonic games] but for example, say if alex the kidd became more popular than sonic, then it is possible that sega would consider removing sonic as the mascot in favour of this popularity, although highly unlikely, it's still possible. Much like for nintendo, they could easily change their mascot over to link, hes popular enough, But nintendo wouldn't do that for sure.

Well said.

And Alex Kidd dominating over Sonic? Wow... What a horrible thought. I don't even like Alex Kidd very much. Heh.

SEGA's shown their creativity in the past and they have continued to do so up until today. Trust me, Unleashed is far from SEGA's "last-ditch effort". GT asked if SatSR was "the final nail in the blue rodent's coffin" and, as I said in the other topic, people keep saying how Sonic games will be his "last chance" (i.e., MAJORLY stated for S06 and especially SatSR) but Sonic, again going back to GT's dialogue in their vid review, "has a few laps left in him". :)

Well, it's very unlikely but say if alex kidd popularity did boost back up. it is possible they'd do that.

And people over think the whole sonic thing, always doubting in sega. The fact is lately sonic games have been made my sega of america, see the pattern of why the games have sucked lately?

Indeed. And the fact that Unleashed is NOT being made by Sonic Team certainly opens it up a lot more. SEGA of America started/developed ShTH, if I'm not mistaken and look how that turned out...

If SEGA itself made more games like Unleashed rather than leaving it up to SoA a little more, Unleashed, then, is FAR from the end for our little blue hedgehog who's certainly maturing in every sense of the word.

I like the way you somehow said sonic team, instead of sega america/sonic team america. lol.

But yes, i mean if you think of it logically, SA 1 & 2 were sega japan/sonic team japan. And they were good sonic games.

Oh whoops. I get confused sometimes, heh.

SA & SA2 were GREAT Sonic games. Just imagine. Unleashed was meant to be, in essence, SA3. You just can't go wrong. I may be getting ahead of myself but I call's em like I see's em: Unleashed is going to be one awesome game. One I will cherish and use as a testimony to prove why I've been sticking with Sonic for so long. Unleashed will be so satisfying. Again, I may be placing false hopes but I don't care. I don't get disapointed easily and even if I did find myself disappointed, I'd find out before the game was released anyway. No crappy story can change my mind either, especially since the Story seems pretty good, anyway.

Unleashed is far from Sonic's last chance.
